Our Story

Tovesageneral Motors LLC was built on a simple frustration: buying a replacement engine or transmission used to mean gambling on a used pull from a salvage yard, with no way to know how many miles were really left in it. We started remanufacturing powertrains in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with one rule, every unit that leaves our building has to be verified on a dyno before it ships, not just hand-spun and boxed.

Today our team of master engine builders and certified machinists rebuilds engines and gearboxes to tolerances that meet or exceed the original factory specification, using new wear parts on every job, not reused ones. We do not outsource machining or testing; the block that comes in the door is the block that gets CNC-honed, assembled, and hot-tested on-site before it is crated for freight.

We are a US-based, US-operated company. Every engine and gearbox we sell ships from our Sioux Falls facility to customers in all 50 states, and every customer who calls or emails us reaches a real person at that same facility, not an overseas call center.

How We Build Every Engine & Gearbox

Remanufacturing is a four-stage process. Every unit passes through all four stages in order, no exceptions, before it is approved for sale:

1. Teardown & machining

Cores are fully disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned, and magnaflux crack-checked. Blocks and heads are CNC line-honed and surfaced to factory-spec tolerances.

2. Assembly with new parts

Every build uses new pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, seals, and timing components. Torque-to-yield fasteners and bearing clearances are measured and logged by hand.

3. Dyno hot-testing

Completed units run on our computerized dyno cell at operating temperature under simulated load, verifying oil pressure, compression, and power output before certification.

4. Crating & freight

Approved units are wrapped, corrosion-protected, and secured into a reinforced steel or wooden crate with shock indicators, then handed to insured LTL freight for delivery.

How Shipping & Delivery Work

Engines and gearboxes are too heavy and valuable to ship as parcels, so every order ships as insured freight (LTL), not through a courier like UPS or FedEx. Here is exactly what happens after you order:

  • Confirmation: our team confirms stock and freight timing by email within 24 hours of your order.
  • Handling: 2-3 business days for a final bench check and crating at our Sioux Falls facility.
  • Freight transit: typically 3-7 business days to addresses in the lower 48 states; you receive a carrier tracking number by email.
  • Delivery: curbside by default, with free liftgate service on request; the carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery window, and someone 18 or older must be present to sign for the crate.

Standard freight within the 48 contiguous states is a flat $149.00 per order. Orders totaling $2,500.00 or more ship freight-free. Alaska, Hawaii, and international shipments are quoted individually, contact us before ordering. Full details live on our Shipping Policy page.
